'Change the world' event aims to stir Christians to action

A Pentecost thanksgiving event in London organised by Christian Aid and Share Jesus International will team top singers with a challenging message on poverty and injustice ...

One of the world’s best vocalists, Jocelyn Brown (right), will join Christian Aid supporters with a special guest performance to reflect, sing and celebrate at Change The World, a special Pentecost thanksgiving event being held at the Methodist Central Hall in central London on 26 May 2012.

The ticketed event, which will run from 7-10pm, will be hosted by Premier Gospel Radio’s Muyiwa Olarewaju, include music from London Gospel singer Noel Robinson, MOBO nominee Junior Garr, and a performance by The Renewal choir who will launch their charity single Change the World.

Jocelyn and her fellow artists will be joined by speakers Joel Edwards and Christian Aid’s director Loretta Minghella.

The event will bring together Pentecost Festival partners Share Jesus International (SJI), Christian Aid, and Christian Aid supporters.

Attendees will be able ‘pray, act and give’, sharing a special time of reflection and celebration, and Loretta Minghella will speak  about the work Christian Aid is doing in the struggle against poverty and injustice.

Christian Aid’s Head of Church Relations Dionne Gravesande said: "We are very excited to welcome the performers, speakers, and supporters to this exciting event where we will stand with the Church at Pentecost, and share our work to prepare people for the fight against inequality."

Michah Challenge International Director Joel Edwards added: "History has never known such an avalanche of human desire for a better world. The prevailing ugliness only urges us to want more change. Change the World concert is another expression of that desire. And the Jesus Agenda provides us with a unique tool kit for change."

Tickets for the event cost between  £13.50-£15, plus booking fee, and students and children up to 16 are £10.50. Doors will open at 6.15pm. You can order tickets online at
