What an achievement this book is. It is not an easy task to adapt a book written for adults so that it is suitable for children, but that is what is skilfully accomplished here.

Peter Greig’s book How to Pray is sensitively transformed into an accessible book that would be of great help to children, young converts or those who have English as a second language. The choice of Gemma Hunt, CBBC presenter and writer, has injected a more youthful voice to this already helpful book.

I have read the original and reviewed it favourably here, but I still very much enjoyed reading this book. This beautifully illustrated book unpacks the Lord’s Prayer with simplicity, using a cascade of stories and good advice, and gentle encouragement to help children learn to pray.

One of the things that particularly stands out in reading this edition is that the concepts are so simple that they are easy to follow. I also welcome the section that deals with what happens when what we pray for does not happen. Such an honest approach seeks to maintain confidence in God and avoid the onset of cynicism and disappointment.

I am sure that older primary age children and young teens would find this book a welcome and useful book.
