This is book two of a series called Animals of Eden Valley. It is a beautifully illustrated and produced book that is very pleasing to the eye. The story creatively explores the hugely important question “Who is God?”. The author seeks to answer it with the help of a 10-year-old lion called Roar.

The story takes the reader through some options before giving the very helpful suggestion that it is like thinking of an artist drawing a picture; the artist draws the picture but is not drawn.

This little book gives a big picture of God. It takes seriously the questions that little people ask and helps them grasp a complicated matter in a simple way.

The book is designed for reading with 3-7 year olds. My seven-year-old granddaughter Cecily said: “I liked that there was the little smiley face that represented the Holy Spirit. I liked that they explore the question who made God?”

Our youngest granddaughter, about to celebrate her sixth birthday, said: “I like that it’s the lion’s birthday and I like that he has got balloons on his presents. I like it when they talk about the Bible and where you can look at God’s word for the answer to the question.”

Well, that is praise indeed.
