Martin J. Young – This is That: How to see the Kingdom of Heaven in everyday living
Malcolm Down Publishing ISBN 978 1 912963 40 2 296 pages Price £9.99
This is a substantial book about two important aspects of the Kingdom of Heaven: how to see it and how to live it out in everyday life.
This is accomplished through five “movements” that provides a sweeping overview of what the Bible has to say about God’s Kingdom from Genesis to Revelation.
I liked the way that the author creatively paints the picture of God’s rule from the Garden of Eden to the New Jerusalem. The book represents a considerable amount spadework in the biblical text, flashes of creative thinking that is fizzing with ideas, and a determination to maintain a focus on the central subject.
To read this book a little bit at a time is a good way to get the big picture of what God is doing in Scripture and our world. The Selah sections scattered throughout the book are a reminder to pause, slow down, reflect and apply what is written.
The reader does have to do some work here to extract the maximum benefit from this tightly compressed unfolding of a theme central to us as creatures and as believers in King Jesus.
