Robert Glover – As Many as the Stars: A Story of Change for the Children of China
Hodder and Stoughton ISBN 978 1 529 31717 6 212 pages £16.99
This a remarkable account of what can happen when one person is willing to do exactly what God wants them to do. I should not be keen on the book as I am an Ipswich Town fan and the author is a Norwich City fan, who was part of their youth program for them before playing professionally in lower league football.
The book relates how Robert Glover progressed to a senior role in social services, especially dealing with placing vulnerable children with foster families.
These skills were transferred to China, where the charity he founded, Care for Children, was able to place a million children in secure families. This involved the bold step of temporarily relocating to China with his family of six.
The story tells how Robert moved amongst high-ranking government officials in China and the UK, entrepreneurs, and even royalty. This was done without losing sight of the needs of vulnerable children. There are many anecdotes of people helped and astonishing divine appointments.
If you want to read a story of simple faith in an amazing God, get this book. It is inspiring to see what God can do with a person willing to trust and obey, one step at a time.
