What a Beautiful Name – Scott and Brooke Ligertwood, Ben and Karalee Fielding
Hodder and Stoughton ISBN 9781529356106 Hardback 35 Pages £8.99
This is a beautifully illustrated book that tells the story of a one boy’s journey of discovery of the name at the heart of a song that he only half remembers. The book is based on the song What a Beautiful Name, which was written by Ben and Karalee Fielding.
It is an intriguing story that maintains momentum and interest as it follows Oliver’s adventurous journey until it gets to the grand finale.
My grandson said that he liked the way that the story is written in rhyme. He also liked what was said about mountains, because: “Mountains make him feel safe”.
Our eldest granddaughter like the illustrations and thought that the story was full of adventure and fun.
Our youngest granddaughters said:
“It is about ‘The name of Jesus’.”
“I love the rocket; my favourite colour is orange.”
“I love all the words and pictures.”
“When Oliver’s mum sings, it reminded me of the name of Jesus.”
“I jumped and shouted at the part where it says JESUS!”
“I like the beautiful name song because it reminds me of Jesus.”
The story is followed by a fascinating section for parents to read that gives the background to the story and pointers to how the story can be followed up.
This book is a pleasure to read. It would make a lovely gift for any family.
