“We are now at a point in human history when we must realise that the industrial age has written a cheque to our world that has insufficient funds”.
Time to Act is a cry from the heart for Christians to do something about an environmental crisis that grips us all.
This book is divided up into three parts: Head, Heart and Hands. Multiple contributors from a wide variety of Christian groups address the rational, emotions and the action that is at the heart of Christian Climate Action. This gentle manifesto is rooted in thinking, feeling and doing something about a universal crisis.
This is an interesting and informative book. I was fascinated to read about the struggles of Christians concerning being involved in protest and civil disobedience that might lead to arrest.
There is much to applaud here in Christians surprising activists with their willingness to take action at risk to themselves. I have some reservations about the lack of rigorous biblical thinking behind these actions, and I am not sure that there are parallels in the Acts of the Apostles.
I came away from reading this book thinking: I must do more on this issue, but I am not sure if this is the best way to do it. Have a read and see what you think.
