'We want to celebrate these amazing young people – and help them feel loved and valued'

Northern Irish company Madlug (Make a Difference Luggage), founded and led by Christian Dave Linton, have launched a new campaign encouraging the UK to support children and young people in care throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Madlug Activity Book provides children in care with puzzles, games, doodles and creative activities to keep help inspire creativity and encourage curiosity. The activity books are being sold through Madlug’s innovative ‘buy-one-give-one’ approach.

The activity books are specifically designed for 4-11 year olds, and all activities are focused around the Madlug story. The book and activities can be completed in any order, as Madlug encourage the only rule is that children enjoy themselves.

Children and young people in care are more at risk during COVID-19 as local authorities are understaffed and social workers stretched. Due to the pandemic, thousands of children in care across the UK are now having reduced contact with birth families and siblings, leaving many feeling lost and vulnerable. Madlug hopes the activity book will also enable parents and foster parents alike to educate their children and enable them to make a difference to the lives of children in their care.

Dave Linton, founder and CEO of Madlug said, “To all our amazing friends, family and followers, we send out best wishes to you all at this difficult time. With every book you purchase, we will donate at least another one to a foster child because at a time of lockdown they need to know that people care and that they are incredible.”

Linton continues, “Due to the nature of our work, we are in constant contact with social services, local councils and charities who were already at breaking point before this pandemic. Due to self-isolation and rules about distancing, children in care have had their contact stopped, causing more confusion and enhanced loneliness. We want to celebrate these amazing young people and enable them to feel loved and valued.”

With every activity book bought, Madlug will donate at least one other to a vulnerable child, which will help them on their way with dignity. Prices start from £9.99 and there are also ways people can just donate to the project online. To find out more information about Madlug and to pre-order the activity book go to www.madlug.com
