Church partners up to host first Eco Fair
The first ever Eco-fair in Leigh-on-Sea takes place on Saturday (19 October 2019) at the home of Leigh Road Baptist Church, Marguerite Drive, Leigh-on-Sea SS9 1NN. The Leigh-on-Sea Eco-Fair is a joint collaboration between Leigh Road Baptist Church and Eco Essex.
The fair will bring together local Eco-traders, artisan craft stalls, eco-groups, local service providers, local government and national groups to provide a one stop shop for all things eco.
The fair will be opened by Sir David Amess MP (pictured) and from 10 am visitors will be able to browse the latest eco-products, take part in family activities and kids crafts, browse information stalls, listen to talks about eco issues and find out how to reduce their plastic waste and carbon footprint.
Stall holders include Fantastic Less Plastic, Solar Therm solar panels, Essex Bees, Neal’s Yard, The Refill Room, Pot Herbs and Mrs Wonders Emporium amongst many others. We have bakers, clothing, cosmetics, refill cleaners, children’s toys, Fairtrade, bamboo organics along with artists and artisans.
Southend Borough Council will attend the fair to tell people about the new Plasticity project and the Borough’s plans to make Southend Carbon Neutral by 2030, Veolia will guide visitors on how best to recycle waste, The Women’s Institute will speak about their climate activism and Make do and Mend. Other groups attending include New Life Wood a venture that uses recycled wood and restores lives, The Cloth Nappy Library, South East Essex Organic Gardeners and Eco Essex.
Children will have lots of fun in a special eco-craft room with face painting, storytelling and eco-crafts. Families can join in a scavenger hunt with prizes donated by Veolia, and there will be Fairtrade tea, coffee and homemade cake at the café.
