Manchester comedian takes ambassador role with international charity
Feed the Hungry UK are delighted to announce it has appointed Manchester-based Christian funny man Tony Vino as its first Ambassador for the charity.
Tony Vino is a well known Christian comedian, who is currently hosting the Britain’s Got Talent Live show across the country.
Tony is best known for the way he seamlessly mixes well thought out observational humour with audience interaction and quick-witted responses. His life and interests are wide-ranging, and so is his material, all performed in a warm, friendly and non-offensive style.
Tony Vino is the only half Spanish half Scottish hybrid working comic in the world. Born in Malaga he was subsequently raised in the Costa Del Preston, Lancashire. When he was only a toddler his Father looked around saw the sea, the sand and the sunshine of the Andalucian coast and thought we need to be nearer Wigan Pier.
News of Tony’s role within the charity comes as he joins the leadership team of Ivy Church in Manchester today for a Hand to Hand food packing event.
As part of his work with Feed the Hungry UK, Tony will be working on our supporting food packing event in significant places of worship in the coming months.
Welcoming Tony’s appointment, Gwyn Williams, Feed the Hungry UK’s Operations Director saying: “I love Tony’s passion for the poor, both in what he is doing locally and as I shared with him about our work, he wanted to jump in with both feet.
“Tony is a natural fit for us as we seek to connect church and community through our Hand to Hand food packing programme. I’m excited about the adventure to come …”
Speaking of his new role with Feed the Hungry UK, Tony Vino added: “It is an honour and delight to become Feed the Hungry UK’s first ambassador. I’m looking forward to getting more and more involved with the amazing work.
“First thing is to organise an Ambassador’s Reception – I’ve already ordered a crate load of Ferrero Rocher. Seriously though, Feed the Hungry UK is an incredible charity working internationally to relieve the most basic needs of so many children.
“It is one of the Church’s best kept secrets and I’m going to take every opportunity to change that.”
