The Pentecostal Credit Union (PCU), one of Britain's largest credit unions has launched a Mastercard Debit Card.

The PCU Debit card can be used in shops, when making online purchases, money transfers, bill payments and can be used anywhere in the world where the 'Mastercard' logo is displayed.

The launch of the PCU debit card took place at their offices in Balham, south London on the birthday of its founder Rev Carmel Jones and his wife Mrs I Jones. Other people present were Shane Bowes, CEO of the PCU, Tony Mackey, and Michelle Millsop from Optimus Cards and Anca Bordei the PCU Loans and Business Officer.

The PCU debit card is the latest product launched by PCU to enhance its services to its members. In July 2018 the PCU rolled out a fully interactive website with online banking facilities. PCU also launched a mobile app in October 2018 which enables customers to access their PCU accounts and make payments, and withdraw money on a mobile phone.
Shane Bowes, CEO of the PCU stated, "The launch of PCU's first ever debit card is just another step we've taken to upscale service provision to members. I'm especially proud that our debit card has been launched during black history month and the 70th anniversary of the arrival of HMS Windrush in Britain.

“The PCU was founded in 1980 by Rev Carmel Jones, a member of the Windrush Generation and we aim to continue the legacy of providing financial services that meet the needs of our members."
Rev Carmel Jones shared, "It's inspiring to see how far the PCU has come since I first started, and I'm pleased that this bold new step of launching a debit card has taken place on my 81st birthday. I'm so proud."

Shane added, "Since being founded in 1980, the PCU has become one of the foremost credit unions in Britain. Not only do we offer financial services for our members, we also run leadership training for young people, financial management workshops for faith groups and community organisations and a business course for up and coming entrepreneurs."
