Song of Songs event brings book to life
Actors and musicians will bring to life a poetic and scriptural celebration of love – on the eve of Meghan and Harry's big day.
Song of Songs Live will be at 7.30pm on May 18 at Whirlow Spirituality Centre ('Whirlow'). It features actors Tom Shepherd and Zainab Adeyemi, 'cellist Jonny Ingall and violinist Lucy Phillips. The evening promises to enter into the spirit of generosity, extravagance, creativity and love painted by biblical book Song of Songs, or Song of Solomon.
Whirlow Event Co-ordinator Anna Potts said: "We're very excited about welcoming our performers and inviting visitors to engage with this beautiful poem.
“Our building has recently undergone refurbishment and looks lovely – what better way to enjoy it than with a romantic evening on the eve of a romantic, national event!"
Song of Songs is a love poem delivered by a betrothed couple. It is in the Old Testament. Tom and Zainab will present the text, with musical interludes from Jonny and Lucy.
Wine and chocolates will be included in the price of the evening. Tickets are £15 or free to those in full-time education.
