Church magazine editors sent to Coventry
Coventry’s Methodist Central Hall will play host on 5 May to the Association for Church Editors' Church Magazines Awards Presentation Ceremony for the first time in its 18-year history.
At the heart of the Association’s activities, these awards have inspired church magazine editors to improve standards of presentation in a world where the Christian Church needs to stand out and be noticed.
Rev John Leach, Developing Discipleship Adviser and Trainer in the Diocese of Lincoln will present the keynote speech, entitled “Don’t shoot the messenger!” Based on 2 Samuel 1 as a case study for communication, he will answer the questions “What’s the story? What’s the audience? What’s the purpose? What’s the spin? What’s the style? Where’s the feedback?”
He will show that every one of these questions should be in an editor’s mind as each new issue is put together for its readers.
Both members and non-members of the Association are equally welcome to come along to the meeting. There is a nominal cost of £5 to help pay for refreshments.
Full details are available on the Association’s website, www.churchmag.uk, where a booking form can be downloaded, or call the treasurer and membership officer on 01477 534193.
