Broadcasters, theologians, activists and academics will take the stage at the 40th anniversary Church and Media conference this year (20 October 2016).
Renowned and often controversial church leader Steve Chalke (right), who was one of the UK’s best-known clergy during the 1990s as a regular contributor to GMTV, will look back on the changing relationship between church and media over the last 40 years.
The Church of England’s Rachel Jordan-Wolf (pictured below), Premier Christian Radio’s Charmaine Noble-Maclean and the Evangelical Alliance’s Chine McDonald (pictured right) will speak in debates and workshops. The conference will open with a keynote lecture by former Bishop of Durham and acclaimed author and academic N T Wright (below), whose book God and the Public is published this year.
The conference, which is run by themedianet, will be held at the RSA in London on 20 October, and will explore significant themes in the relationship between church and media over the last generation. The event will offer opportunity for journalists, communications professionals, content producers and church workers to share ideas and experiences, and will conclude with a birthday party to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the organisation.
“This year’s conference will be a particularly special one,” says Steve Cox, Chair of the Church and Media Network, the charity which runs themedianet.
“We’re celebrating 40 years of serving Christians working in, and with, the media. So much has happened in that time, and we are grateful to all those who have pioneered a strong Christian presence in the media over the years.
“Each generation faces new challenges, and this year we’ll have sessions exploring the latest developments in digital communications, work-life balance and community-based story gathering. We’re looking forward to another great day of networking, inspiration and learning.”
Registration is open now and earlybird tickets are available here until 14 August 2016.
