A large crucifix sculpture will be on show in the Diocese of Norwich’s marquee at the Royal Norfolk Show made from hundreds of crosses welded together from cut and clasp nails, reports Network Norwich & Norfolk.
The Diocese of Norwich will be showcasing a Cross of Nails sculpture within their marquee at the Royal Norfolk Show on June 29-30.
Designed and made by artist and engineer Paul Pibworth, it’s hoped the sculpture will go on a tour of churches across the country, with the Norfolk Show being one its first public appearances.
Speaking about the concept Paul said: "I have worked on this idea (on and off) for the last three years and, at last, had the time to finish this striking piece of work. Every cross is individually crafted from three cut and clasp nails welded in the form of a crucifix, and then they are welded together to create the large three dimensional crucifix.”
The sculpture will be set within the Diocese’s large marquee which is highlighting the church in action over the two-day event on Wednesday June 29 and Thursday June 30.
Within the marquee there will be opportunities for visitors to join in Messy Church activities; journey through a prayer space and forest church experience; watch Billy Graham's The Cross short film; and explore an interactive area on prayer, music and the Bible.
At the centre of the marquee will be a large café area for those wanting refreshment or a place to stop and relax as well as a toddler and crèche area for parents. There will also be a demonstration area where school choirs will be performing.
For the first time the marquee will also include many other local Christian charities and organisations showcasing the work they do. Exhibitors include YMCA Norfolk, Norwich Cathedral, the Matthew Project, Norwich Youth for Christ, Rural Ministries, Traidcraft, Revelation Christian Resource Centre, the Mothers' Union and many more.
The marquee is stand number 286 on avenue 9.
