Prayers answered as Wall project gets lift-off

Supporters have backed an ambitious £6m plan for a national landmark to answered prayer in the UK ...

A worldwide Kickstarter campaign, with interest from Canada and even as far away as South Africa has seen over £45,000 pledged to fund the initial design phase of the work, which will see a National Landmark of Answered Prayer in the UK.

The Wall of Answered Prayer is the vision of Richard Gamble, who is the former Leicester City Football Chaplain and Director of Sports Chaplaincy UK. He will be working with a team of professionals to ensure the £6.2 million budget for the whole project is adhered to.

The Wall, planned to stand for decades bearing witness to the Christian faith in the UK, is hopefully going to be built by the side of a major motorway, although planning approval is being sought.

More than 660 people have pledged to support the project, with many offering to purchase a brick to demonstrate an answered prayer in their own life. However, testimonies are still being sought, and people have across the world have already been in touch sharing their story.

The Wall of Answered Prayer has seen endorsement from the new Bishop of Leicester, the Rt Revd Martyn Snow, who expressed his desire to develop links with the work as well as support from many of the major prayer movements in the UK.

The next stage of the project, launching shortly, will be a global design competition in partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects and will bring to life a design for this Landmark, matching the equivalent of 62 semi-detached houses. A judging panel of Architects’, church leaders and others is still being confirmed, but the aim is to announce the winner of the global design competition before the end of 2016.

Welcoming the news that the Kickstarter campaign had been achieved, Richard Gamble, Director of The Wall of Answered Prayer (pictured above) said: “It’s been an unbelievable 40 days with a rollercoaster of emotions. We began the Kickstarter campaign with a bang and loads of pledges, then its slowed down.

"However in the last 24 hours of the campaign, nearly 25% of the funding was pledged. This has been nothing short of a miracle and a demonstrated again that the Wall of Answered Prayer is God’s project.
“I have been working with an amazing team over these last couple of weeks, and this is not my win but a united win. I believe the next stage of the project will be exciting and I can’t wait to see what happens next! “
