Anglicans and Methodists have pledged to work together in mission across Sheffield.
Bishop of Sheffield, the Rt Revd Dr Steven Croft, and the Chair of the Sheffield Methodist District, the Rev Gill Newton, have signed a statement of intent recognising their “common call to mission” across Sheffield.
The Anglican and Methodist churches have a long and fruitful tradition of working with each other, as well as with other Christian traditions. It is now recognised now that there are greater opportunities than ever before of sharing in God’s mission and ministry effectively across the whole city.
In addition to strengthening the relationship between the churches, the partnership will also have significant benefits for the city.
The Bishop of Sheffield, the Rt Revd Dr Steven Croft warmly welcomed the new partnership agreement.
"The Church of England and the Methodist Church already work together in many different ways across the city of Sheffield. This Partnership Agreement will help local churches to build deeper partnerships to work together in their communities for the benefit of all."
The partnership will allow close collaboration between the Sheffield Methodist Circuit and the four Anglican deaneries in Sheffield.
