Traidcraft staff are celebrating following the news that one of its new Fairtrade products has made the shortlist of a renowned foodie award.

The Geobar Fruity Carrot & Stem Ginger, part of the Gateshead-based company’s new range of gluten-free healthy snacks, has been shortlisted in the FreeFrom Food Awards, ‘Bars’ category sponsored by Holland & Barrett.

It will go head to head with other shortlisted ‘free-from’ products from retailers including Sainsburys and Get Fruity, with the overall winner set to be announced by celebrity chef, Antony Worrall Thompson, at the FreeFrom Food Awards ceremony on April 22.

Now in its eighth successful year, the FreeFrom Food Awards celebrate the best in gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and all ‘freefrom’ foods.

The Geobar Fruity Carrot & Stem Ginger is part of Traidcraft's new range of healthy Geobar snacks – all of which are gluten-free and count as one of your five a day. The delicious bar differs from Traidcraft’s ‘original’ Geobars, as it is part of the new raw fruit wholefood bar range, packed with Fairtrade fruit and nuts, which bring opportunities and hope to growers around the world.

The new Fruity range also includes the Cocoa & Beetroot flavour; Trail bar additions include Cocoa Crunch and Banana & Walnut. All gluten-free, the new products join the existing Geobar family, which includes Chocolate, Mixed Berries, Apricot and Crunchy Granola.
