Christians from across the UK, and the world, will be attending a different sort of festival this summer in Devon.
Westpoint Festival, in its fifth year, offers Christians the chance to learn more about God through teaching and meeting people from other churches.
Churches from across the South Coast and across the UK will camp together for the five-day Festival. They will be joined by churches from India, Portugal and other nations to celebrate their faith and share community.
Local Devonshire businesses have been invited to take part in the Festival and participate in the Festival Zone. The Festival Zone is a free space where festival-goers can engage in a number of activities from street dancing to craft activities.
Festival-goers will also be treated to events from a circus company and even a comedian. An inflatables zone and café area will also offer alternative ‘hangout’ zones for children and adults alike.
In addition to this, daily morning and evening meetings will take place that will include times of sung praise and teaching by speakers from as far afield as North Carolina. There will also be plenty to do for children and teenagers, with fun activities and groups on offer.
A series of seminars will run throughout the Festival on topics ranging from song writing and social media to advice on what to do after leaving school.
Mark Landreth-Smith, pastor at Beacon Church Camberley and one of the event’s organisers, said, “This year is going to be fantastic, we are looking forward to praising God together and learning more about Him. In addition, the Festival Zone and activities will be brilliant fun and a great chance to really engage with the local Devon community too. Last year was an amazing time of being a community together and we think this year is going to be even better!”
Westpoint Festival takes place from 21-25 August 2014 with over 4,000 people camping in Exeter Westpoint Arena. For more information you can visit www.westpointevent.org.uk.
