Eastbourne's Bible By The Beach teaching event welcomed nearly 1000 delegates to the Sussex resort's Congress Theatre this bank holiday weekend.

Dr Liam Goligher, Senior Minister at Tenth Presbyterian Church Philadelphia, led three Bible Readings around the theme of True Humanity. Other main meeting speakers included Ian Coffey, Paul Gardner and Andrew Wilson.

Action-packed children’s and youth ministries, meant there was something for all ages to enjoy and there more children present than ever before. The conference’s seaside location also allowed visitors to make the most of the sunny weather.

MP for Enfield Southgate David Burrowes gave a seminar on The Secret Diary of a Christian MP where he encouraged Christians to be more politically engaged. Other seminars covered medical ethics, parenting and the doctrine of man.

Andy Fenton from Music Ministry led worship in the main sessions and Lou Fellingham gave a special one-off concert on Saturday evening.

Positive feedback poured in online under the #BBTB14 Twitter hashtag. Keenen Chapman from Bexhill wrote, “@andyfenton thank you so much for leading the worship so wonderfully this weekend and for your great seminar ...”

Carl Chambers from Brighton said, “... Great day. Good friends. Well organized. Special thanks to those cooking for all the stewards+helpers.”

Conference Eastbourne commented, “We love Bible by the Beach conference as there’s so much going on, with sessions for all ages, even a crèche for the very little ones.”

Organiser Bishop Wallace Benn explained the event was founded after noting how delegates would travel many miles to attend Spring Harvest or Word Alive.

"It seemed the South East of England needed a flagship event where there was lively worship and high quality Bible teaching. There’s something wonderful to be said about Christians getting together for celebratory events and seeing a bigger picture than just the local congregation.

"The emphasis right through Bible By The Beach over the six years has been focusing on the Lord Jesus and seeking to magnify him. We can only find our real humanity and be truly human when we get to know our creator through the Lord Jesus Christ and learn to be like him.”

Next year’s event from 1-4 May is themed The Mission of God: To the ends of the earth. Richard Pratt, Andy Hawthorne and Roger Carswell are all confirmed as speakers.
