Soul By The Sea, the team that brings the open-air production of the Passion of Christ to Brighton each year are performing it again on Easter Sunday 2014, free to the public.

Writer and Director of the Passion of Christ James Burke-Dunsmore will once again take on the lead role as Jesus. Alongside a local volunteer amateur cast, he will guide the audience on an unforgettable journey of the days leading up to Jesus’ arrest, death and resurrection.

James has portrayed Jesus Christ in more than 80 worldwide productions spanning 16 years. He has reached more than a quarter of a million people in towns and cities in the UK and abroad, and to millions on BBC television and radio.

He is also a trustee of The Passion Trust, the charity that supports and promotes performances of passion plays and biblical drama around the UK. His first performance in the Brighton Passion of Christ was in 2011.

The Passion of Christ 2014 performance details are below:
•    Date: Easter Sunday 20 April
•    Time: 2pm and 4.30pm
•    Venue: Lawns of St Peter’s Church, Brighton, BN1 4GU
•    Tickets: not required

As a prequel to the Passion of Christ 2014, Soul by the Sea and local art group Movement in Worship will be parading the streets of Brighton on Palm Sunday. Starting at the West Pier, they will walk along the seafront to the bottom of the Old Steine and up to St Peter's Church using musical instruments, hand-made banners and colourful dress to honour this joyful celebration!

Palm Sunday Walk of Witness:
•    Date: Palm Sunday 13 April 2014
•    Time: 12pm - 1pm
•    Meet at the West Pier, Brighton seafront
•    Tickets: not required

Soul by the Sea's first performance of The Passion of Christ was in 2011 next to the historic West Pier on Brighton beach. The Passion of Christ is part of the charity Passion Trust. Soul by the Sea relies solely on fundraising from kind individuals, businesses and some grants. A proportion of all funds raised go to local charities Off The Fence, Crossover Brighton and the international non-profit organisation Jesus Street Shows.
