Thousands of couples will simultaneously renew their wedding vows on 8 February at The BIG Promise event in churches across the UK.
Dozens of churches have added their names in the past two weeks to the growing list of venues offering couples the opportunity to re-affirm their wedding vows – and there is still time to register and organise an event.
The BIG Promise event will set a new world record, looking sure to eclipse the current record of 1089 couples, set in Ohio, USA in 2009.
“Marriage vows are the most long-term promises we ever make – to love and care for someone for the rest of our lives!” said Dave Percival, Project Coordinator.
“The BIG Promise is a chance for couples everywhere to acknowledge how important these vows are, and to say publicly, out loud, ‘our marriage matters to us!’.”
Couples can register and find a venue near them by visiting www.BIGPromise.org.uk. Venues currently include St Michael and All Angels Sandhurst; The Rock Christian Centre in Sheffield and The Life Centre in Orkney. New events and venues can still be added.
The event is a project of Marriage Week UK, which runs from 7-14 February. Last year 1.5 million people attended a Marriage Week event worldwide – find out more at http://marriage-week.org.uk
