Some 47 schools in West Norfolk will be getting a visit from Christian children's outreach ministry GenR8 over the next few weeks, reports Tony Roche for Network Norwich & Norfolk.
Established in the Cambridge area in 2001, GenR8 came to Norfolk in 2008 through the Crowns Trust. Now equally accepted in West Norfolk as a reliable and safe product by many schools, GenR8 presents the gospel in a fun, lively, relevant and educational way to primary school-aged children, working in partnership with local churches, and at the same time enabling and equipping local Christian volunteers.
The Christmas tour will be visiting 47 schools throughout West Norfolk. Each presentation lasts around half an hour, and will aim to help children understand that they all have unique gifts and talents, and that they are all cared for by a loving Father. This will all be set within the theme of "Jesus is the True Gift of Christmas".
Each session includes a lively introduction, sketches, comedy, puppets, stories, and an action song. The presentation concludes with the serious message.
“We are always greeted by enthusiasm and excitement when we return to a school we have visited fairly recently” said Brian Griffin from GenR8’s West Norfolk team. “I believe it is because we present an action packed, thought-provoking, fast-moving, fun-filled half hour quite unlike any other school assembly time. Retaining children’s concentration is every school-teacher’s challenge, yet we find that all children – even those young and disaffected, manage our full 30-minute presentation with very little difficulty. Even the adults watching remain as equally absorbed as the children!”
The Christmas tour, which started yesterday (25 November) and finishes on 12 December, includes schools in Clenchwarton, Ashwicken, Runcton Holme, Brancaster, Kings Lynn, Tilney, Terrington, St Germans, Heacham, Snettisham, Bircham, North and South Wootton, West Walton, Hunstanton, Marshland St James, Middleton, Dersingham, Narborough, Watlington, Ingoldisthorpe, Sandringham, Gayton, Ashwicken, Shouldham, Walpole, Grimston, Harpley, Marham, Sedgeford, Downham Market, and Docking.
The team, consisting of Sandy, Andrew, Andrew, Adrian, Brian and Josephine welcome prayers for each other, for safe travel, and that they will communicate the gospel message effectively.
