Talented youth line up for XLP Arts Showcase London centrepiece
The XLP Arts Showcase Final 2013 returns to London's Mermaid Theatre for the sixth time on 6 July, giving a platform to the city's talented and inspiring young people ...
Winners representing Southwark, Lewisham, Greenwich, Camden, Newham, Islington and Tower Hamlets will come together to display their talents and talk about their experiences at a night that celebrates the contribution of gifted young people to their community. After months of practising and triumphing at local borough finals, some of the finest young performers from London’s secondary schools will come together and battle it out again at the XLP Arts Showcase Final.
Some 16 acts in total will perform during the night along with two special guests. Acts will focus on communicating some of the challenges they face as young people and their aspirations for the future. Each act competed previously and won a place in the final after bravely performing in front of a panel of judges at their borough finals.
It’s a fantastic night to listen to and support great young talent as well as capturing the hopeful spirit of XLP Arts Program.
Patrick Regan OBE CEO and Founder of XLP says: “At XLP, we refuse to believe that this is a lost generation and we are committed to proving it. By supporting these fantastic young people, giving them a platform from which to be heard and helping them find productive outlets for their talent and creativity; we can clearly see that young people have so much to offer to their communities.”
XLP Arts Director, Wizdom says: “The talent coming from the schools in London has been phenomenal and it is good to know that now in its 14th year that the XLP Arts Showcase is still a fantastic platform to inspire, educate and empower young people.”
The XLP Arts Showcase final takes place on Saturday 6 July from 6:30pm at The Mermaid Theatre, Puddle Dock, Blackfriars, London, EC4V 3DB.
Tickets cost £5 in advance and are available to purchase from the XLP website (www.xlp.org.uk).
