Listeners to an Asian radio station in West Yorkshire are set to hear about Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, thanks to the efforts of Bradford-based media charity HCJB Global in partnership with Radio Worldwide (part of WEC).
An audience of 175,000 people across West Yorkshire will hear a selection of readings, interviews and vox pops in a mixture of Hindi and English during the special Easter broadcast on Sunrise Radio 103.2FM.
“We are delighted to be able to pair up our award-winning UK radio team Whistling Frog Productions, with our friends at Radio Worldwide to make this piece for Hindi listeners,” said Colin Lowther, the charity’s Chief Executive.
“Our hope is that people will get a chance to hear for themselves, in their own language, about what happened to Jesus 2,000 years ago. It’s not just about learning how the Christian faith began, but the difference it is making to people right now.”
The Sunrise Passion follows a successful Christmas production last year in Urdu made for the same station and will include interviews with prominent Pakistani Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali and Canon Yaqub Masih, a lay canon of Wakefield Cathedral.
The programme will be broadcast just after 7pm on Maundy Thursday 28 March.
