Winning entry picked for Life of Pi London premiere competition

Inspire has two precious tickets to the Life of Pi premiere on offer – and from dozens of entries our winner has been picked ...

Out in cinemas nationwide just before Christmas is the eagerly awaited film Life of Pi, based upon the much-loved book by Yann Martel, and steered by Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee.

An epic adventure of magical realism, Life of Pi follows the story of a young man's incredible survival at sea against almost impossible odds.

While cast away, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with another survivor ... a fearsome Bengal tiger. A remarkable breakthrough in the use of 3D technology, this film will take audiences on an emotionally captivating journey that will inspire, touch and transport them to a place of discovery they will never forget.

Damaris will be offering free resources for a wide range of community groups, all built around clips from the film, and available following release on 20 December. There will be lots of helpful guidance on exploring the philosophy and meaning behind the film, with leaders' guides and community publicity.

Our winner picked from stacks of imaginative entries was Kiran Hayre, who when asked which animal she would pick to have on a boat with her if she was stranded at sea, replied:

"I would want to share a boat with a chimpanzee for many reasons. The first reason is I would have a lovely companion as they are able to communicate with humans. If we were to end up on an island, they're smart enough to be able to use whatever tools that are available to hunt for food so we don't go hungry!

"They also have amazing memory skills, so they would be able to remember where they got the food from and how to get around the island (and hopefully to get back to civilisation if we still had the boat!) Finally, they are usually cooperative animals so it wouldn't be difficult to be around them."

Other animals suggested included a house sparrow, a koala bear, an otter, a seal, lots of dogs and ... a tiger. Thanks for all your entries and watch out for more great competitions at !
