A bright yellow double-decker bus from Germany travelled round Hampshire’s Meon Valley in October half-term week as part of a Methodist initiative to bring the local community together, reports Martin Letts.
Local churchgoer Sam Lobb had seen the Big Yellow Bus working in Europe and suggested the idea for the Meon Valley, and Methodist Churches in the area took it up.
The German Methodist Church bus, equipped with a cinema and coffee lounge, had previously travelled extensively around mainland Europe but was this was its first trip to Britain.
Families from the Hampshire Methodist Churches visited villages in their circuit, stopping for a chat with local people and offering refreshments and a range of all-age activities.
The bus initiative was financed and organised by the Meon Valley Methodist Circuit and led by the Superintendent Minister Rev David Moss and his wife Alison.
