A new exhibition explores the evidence for evolution and responses to it, through stunning photographs of the natural world and emotive quotations.

Evolution still divides opinion in the Church and with that in mind,  photographer Andy Mackay presents Man Thou Art a Wonderful Animal to challenge perceptions and stimulate thought on truth, faith, knowledge and humanity.

The exhibition opened in Liverpool Cathedral last April and the UK tour continues at Central Hall Westminster until 19 November 2012.

“I think art is a fantastic way to approach provocative subjects and to be able to do this in some of the most significant Christian venues in the UK is marvellous,” said Andy Mackay

The exhibition comprises rare, original imagery of important and unusual species and highlights how extraordinary mutations in individuals can reveal a common origin.

Using his photography from China, Borneo and Europe, Andy Mackay looks to reconcile scientific integrity and Christian belief.

  • Man Thou Art a Wonderful Animal is at Central Hall Westminster, Storey's Gate, London SW1H 9NH until 19 November.  A live public debate will be held on Thursday 15 November at 7pm. Further details from exhibitions@wonderfulanimal.org
