Further to their successful men’s event tour in the autumn, Care for the Family are running some more ‘In The Arena’ events around England that you and / or your men’s group might find helpful to attend.
Every man encounters challenges in life’s arena. We often face uncertainties or difficulties that can test our integrity, resilience and character. But God has called us to live our lives with passion and perseverance, to run the race set before us and to run to win.
“Run in such a way that you may win.” 1 Corinthians 9:24
To meet our challenges successfully we need to be prepared. We need to be trained, ready to deal with the problems or tough times that can affect our most important relationships, our work and our inner or spiritual life.
‘In the Arena’ is a men’s event that will share helpful strategies to strengthen and empower you for whatever challenges you face now or in the future. Speakers Rob Parsons and Gerrit Bantjes will present biblical principles and insights they have seen work through their experience of both triumph and adversity. They will talk about critical areas of everyday life such as friendships, finance, character and career. Their encouragement will leave you better prepared to run life’s race.
Rob Parsons, OBE, is the founder and CEO of Care for the Family. He is a bestselling author of over 20 books, including The Heart of Success and The Sixty Minute Father. He has spoken to governments, many blue-chip companies and over a million individuals.
Gerrit Bantjes has been a British Army paratrooper and a fitness coach to Cardiff Rugby Club and he currently works full time for Care for the Family. Gerrit is also a husband and father with real compassion and understanding of life’s highs and lows.

Performance Management: Faithfulness & Fruitfulness
16 May 2018
Christian Medical Fellowship
Understanding the relationship between faithfulness and fruitfulness is of no small significance to those who give their lives to gospel ministry.
If God requires both faithfulness and fruitfulness, then how can we help our overseas mission partners to faithfully pursue fruitfulness? And what does this actually look like when it comes to performance management?
How can we as HR practitioners develop a framework to help manage performance appropriately and consistently? How can we balance the care of the individual (and their wider family) against the need for organisational performance? What other factors have a bearing on performance in an overseas context?
This day event will seek to cover, amongst other things,
A Biblical overview of faithfulness and fruitfulness, stewardship and accountability An introduction to secular theory around performance management, and how Biblical ideas relate to this What is fruitfulness in a mission context – what are we really looking for, and how do we measure it? The practical application of performance management in terms of policies, processes and approaches used in this tool Our speakers include Sarah Hay, Rob Hay and Rachel Westcott. Rachel Wescott is Director of People and Organisational Development at WaterAid, a role she has held since 2007. Rachel’s responsibilities include overseeing the development and delivery of WaterAid’s people strategies across their 28 countries of operation.
The cost is £20 to people from GC member agencies and churches. Cost for non GC members is £50. Refreshments and lunch are included in the price. Tea and coffee will be available from 10:30 am.

Raising children in restricted societies
12 June 2018
Anthony Collins Solicitors
TCKs live among many different cultures and societies. For TCKs from the UK and other western families that can mean growing up in a restrictive society. These societies vary hugely from those with conservative values and moderate limitations through to others that are heavily restrictive and segregated.
Our childhood experiences help shape us for the rest of our lives, and so we will be considering the ways in which these societies affect our TCKs growing up there. We will also focus on strategies that families have adopted as they have tried to ensure the best experiences and outcomes for their children.
This day event will seek to cover, amongst other things:
How does growing up in a restricted society affect our TCKs – both positively and negatively? What particular issues do teenagers (and their parents) face? How do we address the different issues affecting boys and girls? What can we learn from how agencies have supported their families in restricted societies? How can we help TCKs from restricted societies reintegrate back into life in the UK when the time comes? Different presenters will speak from their own experiences in a number of countries with varying levels of cultural conservatism. Our speakers for the day have experience of living in Central Asia and the Middle East and have teenage children of their own.
The cost is £20 to people from GC member agencies and churches. Cost for non GC members is £50. Refreshments and lunch are included in the price. Tea and coffee will be available from 10:15am.
Please note: if you are a TCK parent/grandparent/extended family member, or church member caring for TCKs/families overseas - and your church is not a member of GC - please choose the £20 member rate and add an explanatory note in the ‘dietary or access requirements’ box below.

Identity in Christ Conference - with Tim and Kathy Keller
21 June 2018

The labels are no longer so simple - young people today are being encouraged to embrace fluidity in both gender identity and sexual orientation.
Confusion abounds for them - and for churches who seek to be a safe and welcoming place for all. As everything changes around us how can we as church leaders encourage all to root their identities in Christ - and so build our churches on firmest of foundations?
Dr Tim Keller (Redeemer Presbyterian Church, New York) will be helping us answer this question in two main sessions alongside input from Kathy Keller, and the team from www.livingout.org. For more information and to book, visit www.livingout.org/identity-in-christ

Come and be inspired, informed, equipped and empowered! Dan McCollam travels internationally as a prophetic speaker and trainer and he empowers worshippers worldwide to understand and release the transformational effect of worship on individuals, families, cities, and nations. One of his passions is to create prophetic cultures where everyone can hear God, activate and mobilize their prophetic words, and express their own unique prophetic diversity. Dan serves on the teaching faculty of Bethel School of the Prophets in Redding, California and he is part of the Global Legacy apostolic team overseeing a growing number of churches partnered for revival. Prior to Resonate, Dan McCollam speaks at ACTIVATE School Of Prophecy. Dan is the co-founder of the Bethel School of the Prophets and Founder of the activate school of prophecy. He has authored several books and manuals on the prophetic including, “Basic Training in Prophetic Activation, The Good Fight, Prophetic Company” and the children’s series on spiritual gifts, “My Super Powers.”

Family Week
07 July 2018
Capernwray Hall, Carnforth LA6 1AG
Come and relax together with other families, other children, other teens and other parents. There are friends to meet and there is fun to share. Our age-appropriate Bible teaching will introduce the children to Jesus, let the teenagers discuss Christian issues and give adults time to soak up and reflect on Scripture. Full board is a great help on a family holiday as you can now all relax, turn up for meals and all enjoy the great facilities we have to offer in your spare time. We also provide evening “Baby Listening” for children under 7 years old during the evening meeting. Either staff will monitor corridors or we will give you a baby monitor depending on the location of your bedroom.

In 2018 we’ll be in Scotland from 21st – 25th July and we can’t wait! Your hosts for the main meetings will be Mike Pilavachi and Andy Croft who are both involved in the running of Soul Survivor and our associated church, Soul Survivor Watford. They will be joined by guest speakers and worship leaders. Every morning and evening we all get together for times of worship, teaching and ministry. These meetings are one of the highlights of Soul Survivor as they’re all about spending time in God’s presence, worshipping him, hearing from his word, and praying for one another in the power of the Holy Spirit. There will be seminars, sports, films, cafe's and so much more! This is the event for the summer so put it in your diary and book your ticket by 31st January for early bird discount. See you there!
