A new podcast for football fans in the UK has been unleashed by two sporting Christian ministries … and INSPIRE editor Russ Bravo features in episode one.

Imagine a game of keepy-uppy. Up In the Gantry takes three current footballing issues, kicks them in the air and gets the participants to bounce the ideas around, each one contributing his or her experience as a football fan.

There are many podcasts for football fans in the UK but what makes Up In The Gantry different is that every participant shares not only a passion for football, but also a passion for Jesus.

On the podcast you’ll hear chat, banter, ribbing and good humour as the team discuss, debate and often disagree with each other on the latest topics. Listeners are encouraged to get involved with their views.

The first edition features the joys and pain of supporting teams battling for promotion to the Premier League, José Mourinho’s appointment as Manchester United manager and England’s quest for Euro 2016 glory.

Up In The Gantry features a panel of football fans supporting different teams in the UK and an overseas perspective from Andy Searles, chaplain of Orlando City Soccer Club in the USA and an Ipswich Town fan.

Cross The Line’s Ollie Baines said: "Here at Cross The Line we are really excited to be unleashing Up In The Gantry in partnership with Passion for Sport.  A podcast that has real potential to unite all football fans and bring you a step closer to the beautiful game."

Adrian Barnard for Passion for Sport is the project’s producer. He said: “Football is a great passion for millions in the UK.  We’re looking forward to sharing our passion for football through Up In The Gantry along with our passion for Jesus.”

Episode 1 features INSPIRE editor Russ Bravo - also a mad Brighton fan - chewing over the ins and outs of the Championship promotion race with Mark Blythe, Christian sports activist and Middlesbrough fan. Also contributing alongside Adrian (Crystal Palace fan) and Ollie (Norwich City), is Cross the Line co-founder Liam Flint (Chelsea).

Up In the Gantry is a joint production from two Christian media producers, Passion for Sport and Cross The Line.  Passion for Sport is a sports media agency that produces a range of sports content for radio, online and social media with the aim of introducing sports fans to Jesus through media.  Cross The Line is a group of faith-driven writers committed to sharing the Christian Gospel through fresh sports news delivered through their website.
