As Iraq faces continued unrest, Christian ministry Leading The Way is partnering with Canon Andrew White to distribute 3,000 Navigator solar-powered audio player 'pocket missionaries' throughout Baghdad ...

“The Navigator is a solar-powered audio player that has the capacity for us to put the Bible and Leading The Way founder Dr Michael Youssef's sermons into the hands of thousands of Iraqi people in desperate need of spiritual help,” explained Chris Makin, Development Director for Leading The Way in Australia and New Zealand.

He added: “This partnership is possible because of a large donation we received from an Australian Leading The Way supporter.

“Thanks to the Lord's provision of translations, we are able to load the Iraqi Navigators with the Arabic New Testament and Arabic Leading The Way programmes. It is particularly helpful for ministries like Canon Andrew White's, where there are low levels of reading ability. Even supplying printed Arabic Bibles would not give some of his congregation the access to God's word that the Navigators can.”

Leading The Way President and Founder Dr Michael Youssef is a friend of Canon Andrew White, also known as the Vicar of Baghdad, and is urging prayer for this strategic partnership: “We are so delighted to be able to send Andrew White these Navigators because there are some people who can’t go to church, as the ongoing bombings are so bad.

“Many are stuck at home and so at least they will have an opportunity to hear the Bible and listen to a message from Scripture. Andrew is a man who has sacrificed a whole lot for the work God has called him top. He has MS and physical limitations and difficulties, but he keeps on going. So we need to pray for Andrew and his church in Baghdad.”

Dr Youssef is also urging ongoing prayer for all Christians throughout Iraq: “I think the most important prayer is that God would sustain His own people. That is really very important. These are people who are so discouraged and yet they would not surrender, they would not give in. So I’m urging all Christians throughout the West to really pray that God will strengthen our brothers and sisters in Iraq.”

The Navigator pocket missionary allows Leading The Way to provide biblical teaching to believers in areas hostile to the Gospel, in the privacy of their own homes. In the last year, more than 5,000 Leading The Way Navigators containing the New Testament in addition to Dr Youssef's teachings, were distributed in more than 52 countries.

£60 will help produce and distribute three Navigators. Find out more at www.leadingtheway.org.uk
