Inspire magazine's website has scooped the runners-up spot in one of the categories at the first
Premier Christian Blog & Website Awards ...
The site was shortlisted as one of four nominated in the News and Reviews Website category of the inaugural awards, held on Friday at St Stephen Walbrook Church in the City of London, and ended up taking the runners-up slot behind winners Christian Today.
Inspire editor Russ Bravo and advertisement manager Paula Taylor represented the magazine at the awards, and are pictured right with the certificate awarded.
"We were delighted to be shortlisted, let alone land the runners up slot," said Russ. "The awards are a welcome encouragement for UK Christians seeking to have an impact online, and hopefully will help us all develop and sharpen our internet ministry. These days, it's surely the world's fastest growing mission field."
Blogs and websites in a range of categories were awarded, and guests heard Bishop of London the Rt Rev Richard Chartres pay tribute to the pioneering work of Christians in cyberspace. His encouragement has been a significant part in seeing the establishment of St Stephen Walrbook Church as London's first internet church, where worshippers from around the world can join in online with services.
The evening was hosted by author and speaker Jeff Lucas, and Premier Radio presenter Maria Toth. Among those to win categories were rejesus.co.uk, cartoonchurch.com, worshipcentral.org and kingschurch-manchester.org.
