‘Radio Rev’ climbs Mount Sinai for disabled people

Revd Canon Roger Royle, presenter for BBC Radio 2, has completed a challenge to “follow the footsteps of Moses” by reaching the peak of Mount Sinai, in Egypt, to raise vital funds for disability charity Livability.

Ten Livability supporters joined Roger (fourth from left) on the trek, which has raised more than £18,000 for the charity. The funds donated will be used to provide services to over 8,000 disabled people across the UK, helping them to lead full, independent lives and maximise their own potential.

The team hiked through the picturesque Sinai Valley, and visited St Catherine’s Monastery, which is the oldest continuously inhabited monastery in the world, before trekking the 2285m to the top of the mountain.

Revd Canon Roger Royle, who has supported Livability for a number of years, says: “I was delighted to join Livability for this very special event. The trek was challenging for everyone, but it was a wonderful experience. I hope the money raised will make a positive difference to the charity’s work.”
