Christian accountant is Midlands’ top business person
Baptist accountant and business adviser David Nicoll has been named Midlands Business Person of the Year for 2009.
He received the award in the presence of Digby, Lord Jones of Birmingham Kt at a gala
ceremony last Friday at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel. Lord Jones, the former Director General of the CBI and Minister of State for Trade and Investment, was himself honoured at the ceremony for his lifetime contribution to business in the Midlands.
David Nicoll is MD of Rugby-based JTD CerTax Accountants, which he created in 2006 after moving to the Midlands from London. He has expanded the business aggressively since then and last year its turnover rose by 178%, following impressive growth in the previous two years. The firm is currently on course to achieve growth of 60% this year.
David, who is a member at Long Buckby and Brington Baptist Church in Northamptonshire, said: “Naturally, I am delighted to have won this award. It is a great achievement and a tribute to the team behind me at JTD Certax and shows just what can be done by taking an innovative approach to this business.
“Business is a vocation like any other, and being able to show that Christian ethics and values are at home in the Boardroom as well as in the Sanctuary is a great witness.”
Organiser Harj Sandher of Leamington Spa-based UK Special Events said: “David beat off a high quality field of entrants to take this award. We are delighted for him and very pleased that the Midlands Business Awards continue to go from strength to strength.”
