Santana wants to ‘start a church’
Latin guitarist Carlos Santana has told a leading rock magazine how his faith has helped him through difficult times and his desire to become a church minister.
The award-winning musician with 37 albums under his belt, told Rolling Stone magazine he would eventually like to start a church in Maui, Hawaii, reports the BBC.
"I'm going to stop playing when I'm 67 and work on what I really want to do, which is to be a minister, like Little Richard," he said.
Santana is at the conclusion of his Live Your Light tour and is about to launch his 38th album Multi-Dimensional Warrior.
"I'm not sick of what I do, but I find that God gave me the gift of communication even without my guitar and with the ability to get people unstuck with certain sections of the Bible having to do with guilt, shame, judgement and fear," he told the magazine.
Santana also talked about how his faith helped him through his recent divorce and overcome thoughts of suicide.
