Christian leaders pay tribute to "outstanding pioneer" Rob Frost
The Evangelical Alliance, Premier Radio, the Methodist Church and Inspire magazine are among many Christian organisations who have paid tribute to Rob Frost, founder of Share Jesus International, who passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday (11 November).
Rev Joel Edwards, General Director of the Evangelical Alliance described Rob as “one of the
bright light champions for evangelical witness, evangelistic fervour and creativity; an outstanding pioneer.”
He praised Methodist Minister Rob Frost's ministry because it reached well beyond Methodism into wider Christianity through Share Jesus International and missions and initiatives such as Easter People.
Rob's inspiration led him into broadcasting, mentoring young people and helping the Church engage with and witness in contemporary culture.
Mr Edwards continued: ”His aspiration to rediscover the spirit of Pentecost and make it accessible to culture through the church is a vision which he didn't live to see but this will have been his final legacy to Christian faith in Britain.
“Rob was a great friend of the Evangelical Alliance and a personal friend from whom I gained much encouragement.”
David Heron, chairman of Premier which broadcast Rob's regular programme Frost on Sunday for a number of years, said: “Rob had a most unique, skillful, ministry within the Methodist denomination and wider Church.
“He had the heart of an evangelist and obviously he was a broadcaster as well. He had an extraordinary ministry that will have an effect on the lives of the people he touched for all eternity.”
Clive Jones, one of the trustees of Share Jesus International and Pastor at Staplehurst Free Church was Rob's prayer partner for 27 years.
“He's been a tremendous man of God, a great encourager to me … It's been great to be alongside him and to sense his friendship, his love and to see his incredible vision."
Inspire editor, Russ Bravo said Rob had made a “major impact” through his writing. “Rob was a great encourager, who never failed to inspire me with his passion for Jesus, his love for the creative arts and pioneering spirit.”
He added: "Whether the driving force behind major events such as Easter People or the new Pentecost event planned for 2008, Rob always had a servant heart, wanting to provide useful tools for Christians grow and share their faith with those around them.
"He was a much appreciated weekly columnist in Christian Herald, and made a major impact on thousands of lives through his writing and broadcasting via Premier. We'll miss him hugely."
Share Jesus International was set up almost 20 years ago, with the purpose of sharing the Gospel in many ways across many countries.
Trustee Graham Horsley, Evangelism and Church Planting Secretary for the Methodist Church in Great Britain, says they owe Rob a huge debt of gratitude.
“A whole generation of ministers in the Methodist Church would put their call down to going on a Share Jesus mission or being challenged at Easter People by the programmes Rob's put together.”
Rob Frost, who had been suffering from cancer, leaves behind his wife Jacqui, two sons Andy and Chris and his father Ronald.
Rob's son, Andy spoke to Premier this morning paying tribute to his father. “I will miss my father greatly. He was a great man of God and a close friend. But we know he's gone to be with his Father in heaven.”
